Volunteer Opportunities
We want to be involved in the community!
Tell us about your non-profit group. Include
the name, a short description of what you can do and how we can
help, and a contact's
name.
We
will post the information to this page and encourage our members
to fill the need. The Wooster YP already has a list of community
needs from these groups:
Stepping Stones Mentors Needed
Make a difference in the life of a youth by becoming a friend
and positive example. One hour a week is all that is needed to
provide encouragement to a youth to do their best in school and
personally. Stepping Stones youth are kids who have the potential
to do well in school but may not achieve their full potential
because of their environment.
Mentors are provided training and
ongoing support to be successful in their mentor role. You
stand to gain from the insights of
a young person, and helping them succeed is a great source
of satisfaction.
Others
are helping, will you? Please contact
Phyllis Jones, Youth Mentoring Coordinator, Stepping
Stones, 330-264-8498, ext. 248 for more information.

Big
Brothers Big Sisters of East Central Ohio
Big
Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) Community-Based Mentoring program
needs volunteers who are able to spend at least four hours per
month spending time with a child.Potential
"Bigs" are screened and interviewed to determine the best available
"Little" to be matched with.
Matches
can choose activities based on common interests, hobbies, community
events or agency sponsored
events. Being a Big Brother or Big Sister (or Couple Bigs,
with your spouse) is not about spending money or being Superman
or Mother Theresa. It's about being a friend, sharing some time,
having conversations, and learning together. Check out the group's
Website.
In
addition to Wayne County, Big Brothers Big Sisters of East Central
Ohio also serves, Tuscarawas, Holmes, Carroll and Harrison Counties.
Interested YP members can call 888-364-5965. The group's work
is as simple as putting a friend in a child's life and as essential
as putting
some hope in a child's future.
