Wooster Wellness 5K Run and Walk - April 5, 2008

Thanks to everyone who participated in the inaugural Wooster Wellness 5K Run and Walk. The race was a great success with more than 300 particpants. Read about the event, check out photos and see the race results.

The Wooster Wellness 5K was hosted by the Wooster YP at the Ohio State University Agricultural Research and Development Center, and brought to you by these sponsors:

Enjoy an exhilarating 5K run through one of Wayne County’s most scenic areas. Stroll, jog or run through the famed Secrest Arboretum and the Ohio State University Rose Garden on the Ohio State University Agricultural Research & Development Center in Wooster, Ohio.

Runners of all ages and abilities are welcome to participate in the 1-mile fun walk/run. The race is a part of the 2008 Subway Challenge Series, and is ChallengeChip timed.

The schedule promises to be a fun day for all participants:

  • 7 a.m. - 8:15 a.m. - Fun walk and run registration
  • 8:15 a.m. - 8:30 a.m. - Last minute 5K registration
  • 8:20 a.m. - Invocation
  • 8:30 a.m. - Fun walk and run Start
  • 9:00 a.m. - 5K start
  • Refreshments and awards after the race

Register online or in-person at the Wooster Area Chamber of Commerce Office, 377 West Liberty, Wooster, OH 44691. Register by 5 p.m. on March 27th for $20, after the deadline pay $22. All checks can be made to the Wooster Area Chamber of Commerce. View a race route map.

All race-day packets can be picked up at the Wooster Area Chamber of Commerce on March 27 between
9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. The packet will include the computer timing chip and commemorative long-sleeved shirt.
This race is also ChampionChip timed. Each participant is responsible for returning the chip immediately following the race (by noon on race day) or pay a $40 replacement fee.

Runners and walkers of all ages and skill levels are invited to participate in this non-competitive event where everyone is a winner! Children under 12 must be registered by a parent or guardian.

Awards are available for the following male and female runner ages:

  • 14 & under
  • 15-19
  • 20-24
  • 25-29
  • 30-34
  • 35-39
  • 40-44
  • 45-49
  • 50-54
  • 55-59
  • 60-64
  • 65- 69
  • 70 & Over

A printable flyer is available for display at your business. Company wellness programs and area high school teams are encouraged to attend.
